Join Us for Our Autumn in New England Cruise

We begin by flying together to enchanting Quebec City, a bit of France just hours away. We’ll arrive, check in for our cruise, enjoy dinner onboard together, and sail nowhere on our first evening.  The ship remains in port for the first night, providing us with dinner and a room in QC at no additional cost and giving us the opportunity to explore this gracious old city in both the evening and all the following day. We’ll arrange to tour with The Touring Club’s favorite local guide, Denis, who will introduce us to the many interesting places in the upper town and the lower town.  In the afternoon perhaps we’ll enjoy Tea Time in the famous hotel, Le Chateau Frontenac (shown above).

Our ship will sail down the broad St. Lawrence River and through the Saguenay Fjord. A full day stop at Saguenay on our first full cruising day offers us an opportunity for exploring the region. That will be followed by a day cruising the Gulf of St. Lawrence before we arrive for a day on Prince Edward Island.  The following two days will afford plenty of time for exploring Cape Breton Island and Nova Scotia.  The first of these days will find us docked in Sydney, NS and the second in Halifax.  We’ll arrange a tour to Peggy’s Cove, a fascinating small village well known for its lighthouse. The city of Halifax is full of interesting shops, restaurants and places to explore.

Re-entering the U.S., we’ll make our first stop at Bar Harbor, Maine.  A full day here will give us time to visit Mt. Desert Island’s Acadia National Park as well time to explore the charming New England town of Bar Harbor.  The following day we’ll dock in Gloucester, Massachusetts.  Located a short distance north of Boston, Gloucester is conveniently near old Salem, Marblehead, Rockport and other charming villages. Our final port call will be in Newport, Rhode Island, where we’ll have the opportunity to tour the famous mansions of the late 19th century. The next morning we’ll arrive in New York City.  If members of our group would like to stay for a few days in Manhattan, The Touring Club will arrange hotels, theatre tickets, and tours for them as well as transportation to the airport.

The Touring Club has reserved a variety of accommodations aboard Holland America’s ship, Eurodam.  One of the newer ships in the HAL fleet, our ship offers every convenience and form of entertainment. We’ve reserved a variety of staterooms so you can choose the type you like.  Call us for the details and a brochure — call 252-633-9771.
