Tomato Season at A Southern Season, Wednesday July 14

Without doubt, The Touring Club members’ favorite daytrip is a visit to A Southern Season for a cooking class lunch. Marilyn Markel, chef/instructor, has suggested we come during tomato season so that’s just what we’re planning.  Marilyn provides a very special lunch for us, shows us how to make it, and gives us the recipes. We eat, we shop, we thoroughly enjoy the day. We will stop at the huge state-owned Farmers' Market in Raleigh and at Trader Joe's on the way home. $85 includes everything.

Tax-Free Shopping Day at Smithfield, Friday August 6

This one’s become a tradition.  When the state of North Carolina suspends payment of sales tax for the first weekend in August, we head to the Smithfield Outlet Mall for a day of shopping the sales.  We save bundles and have a great time.  Come with us this year!  This trip will be $50 or less. Explore Wilmington and its Private Gardens, Friday September 17

We'll discover the history behind some of the beautiful homes and churches of Wilmington on a guided walking tour before enjoying an included lunch at Elijah's waterside restaurant.  Then we'll visit some of the places on Cape Fear Historical Society's Private Garden Tour. $85 includes transportation, tour, lunch and a garden tour ticket.  Put your name on the list for this fun day out soon -- email us!

Christmas Shopping in the Triangle, Saturday November 20
